The Old Corner Inn is uniquely located in Manchester-by-the-Sea, a beautiful quiet town, very close to historic Salem and just 30 miles north of Boston. From here you can enjoy easy day trips into Salem, Boston, Gloucester and Rockport. You can either drive or take a direct train from Manchester’s village to downtown Salem, Gloucester, Rockport or to North Station in Boston. You do not have to change trains.
The Inn offers a pleasant outdoor porch, parlor style living room, dining room and breakfast room as common areas. Guest rooms are located on the 2nd and 3rd floors. All rooms are air conditioned and include a continental breakfast served daily.
The Inn itself is a historic treasure, greeting guests for over 50 years. It was originally built in 1865 as a gracious manor home. It later became the location of the Danish summer embassy. During the time it was built, the area northeast of Boston was “Boston’s Gold Coast”, a summer playground for high society, similar to Newport to New York’s wealthy class, but without all of the huge mansions.
